We loved all of the cool stuff TJ had in his house. Lazy susans, sky lights, dumb waiters and a machine that copied all of his letters. I loved his display of Native American artifacts! Spence loved the clock that included the day of the week.

Overlooking the fields where the slaves worked. The tour didn't give us any new dirt on Thomas and Sally Hemmings, but did point out interesting contradictions about writing the words "all men are created equal" while being a slaveholder.
Jefferson wanted his gravestone to include his three biggest accomplishments: writing the Declaration of Independence, creating the Statute of Virginia for Religious Freedom and founding UVA. I thought it was funny that people were throwing coins on a gravestone, and Spence pointed out that it was ironic that people were making wishes on the grave of someone who appreciated logic and reason.
