Summer in DC

Kings Dominion

Great park. Brought back good memories. Two observations:

1. Don't ride "the Crypt." It throws you around like a spin cycle, and is actually not that fun.

2. There is no apostrophe in the official name of the park (see picture below). We therefore do not know whose dominion it is (if it belongs to anyone at all) or how many kings are involved. Tysons Corner suffers from the same ambiguity, Aly pointed out.

Arlington National Cemetery

We'd been before, but missed seeing the changing of the guard. We decided it was worth the trip. The cemetery puts American flags by all of the grave markers for Memorial Day.

Mount Vernon

Not only a historic site, but also a monument to a great man.

George's back yard. Not a bad view.
An inscription above Washington's grave. The reference is John 11:25

DC Temple

Jeff and his brother Travis visited the temple with us. It's good to have Jeff in town.

Good eye, Aly! I love weird stuff like that. But hey, maybe that just means that Kings Dominion really belongs to everyone, to the people! Or maybe that's just the socialist in me coming out...
